Previous – Tip #4
Tip #5 – Use the O.B.E.S.E Rule
(Dumb Name I know.)
If you can remember, the previous tip was using the Rule of Thirds! Please go and read if you haven’t! It’s useful!
Today, I shall talk about this thing called OBESE. To tell you the truth, and only the truth. I’m in love. The name, is anyhow make one. HAHA. Feel cheated? Although, I made it up, at least got some meaning ok!
It stands for… Observe, Browse, Experiment, Share, and Express.
Repeat after me. You are OBESE.
Observe – As simple as it is, it’s important! Just like Maths lesson. You must observe your teacher do first right? So in terms of photography, Observe how the photos are taken! Observe how people take their photos! Observe your surroundings! Simple!
Browse – NOPE. Please don’t go browsing through your boyfriend/girlfriend’s SMSes! Respect his/her privacy! (Unless he/she only has one contact and all the messages come from only you. HAHA.) Ok, back to topic! Browse through photos! Everywhere! My favourite online place to browse is Flickr! There’s no end to this.
Keep looking and browsing! Look out for nice photos, bookmark them! The more the merrier!
Experiment – Now, after you browse and observe, it’s time to experiment!
Looking at your Maths teacher 24/7 won’t do. You need to practice and experiment! Copy others! After browsing through 603473 photos, try to imitate the photo! Try different angles, use the Rule of Thirds, anyhow snap! The key is to experiment.
Now, where is the lock?
Share – Experiment finish already, must share! Bad or good or better or best, must share! Post it on blog, MMS people, share on flickr, print out and show your everyone or print flyers and distribute.
If you don’t share, only you and your computer can see… Don’t forget, you are contributing to the “Browse” when you share! People are browsing too!
Express – This one is slightly two-way. After sharing, people will express how nice your photos are! You can express your happiness back to them! If people express to you that your photos need improvement, express your gratitude! After that, start from step 1. Which is from, Observe! You can choose to express your dissatisfaction also if you want! But you better get a better photo after that! Or else, you become
.
Hope this helps!
(P.S : I’m also doing the above ok! Not that I’m obese. I’m pretty silm. HAHA.)

Previous – Tip #3
Tip #4 – Use the Rule of Thirds rule.
(Technical tip)
So, what’s this Rule of Thirds thing? Nope, it’s not asking you to date 3 girls/guys at one go.
Actually, it’s not really a rule, but more like a guideline! let’s take a look at this photo.

Do you know why this photo looks so great and pleasing? First, because this girl is very creative. Second, because it actually follows the Rule of Thirds! Third, because it’s I LOVE YOU in French.
Now, to what is the Rule of Thirds..
It actually is the splitting of the photo into 3, both horizontally and vertically. So you’ll get a total of 9 parts! Something like…

The main point in the rule is that, placing your point of interests at the lines, or along the lines will make your photo more pleasing to the eyes. Why? Ask your eyes.
So now, the previous photo is so pleasing because of this rule!

See how the photo’s point of interest intersects the framelines? See see?
To those who cannot or don’t bother to understand the above, the simplified tip here is :
Do not place your subject in the center! Try the sides!
But of course, there is no fixed rule in photography. Shoot whatever and however you like! Enjoy!
(Special thanks to Miss Teh Cheanpin for the photo. I searched for a photo for A LONG TIME. Found the perfect photo. HAHA.)

Tip #3 – Start shooting, and Stop talking!
This is one tip that I’m very guilty of not fulfilling. Talking and talking and talking isn’t gonna get you anywhere. Even if you talk to your camera, the camera won’t shoot for you. So start shooting!
But of course, talking is part of the process of shooting. LOL. You can talk to yourself, on what you wanna shoot or where you wanna go. People won’t call you crazy for talking to yourself sometimes.
But talk finish already, go and shoot!
So today I’m gonna stop talking and go shooting. I’ll be out at night.
Might not be home till tomorrow, so… Yes, no more talking. LOL.

Shot by me for the school yearbook cover. We talked and talked until finally it was shot. LOL.
(P.S : This applies to love too. But not shooting of course. LOL. All talk no action is useless. I rather not talk and do everything. Haha! Guys! Tips for you! LOL.

Tip #2 – Take photos of ANYTHING, ANYWHERE.
Here come tip number 2! So what do you do with your camera? Take photos of course! So, if you are a crazy photo fan, take photos of ANYTHING, ANYWHERE. Digital photography makes it just so easy! Take photos of hot hunks, cute girls, people eating grass, cows, flowers, toilets, toilet bowls, some random drain. Anything! You can find these anywhere! On the streets, in your own home or some public toilet.. Just don’t get caught.
You are not using film, so the delete button is there for you to press. Your phone should have more than enough to store your photos. Don’t worry, your phone won’t BURN because you take too much. At most no battery!
But if you boyfriend/girlfriend can’t contact you because your phone battery is flat, don’t come and find me.
So moral of the story, don’t be shy. Just take photos of anything. anywhere!
If you need help to achieve it, come find me. We go out! I show you how. :smile

Photo Friday is here!
Tip #1 – Never leave home without a camera.
Yes, if you want to make photos, bring a camera out. Technology is not THAT advanced yet for you to take photos with your eyes. LOL.
So yes, this tip is that simple! Bring a camera out!
You don’t have to bring a crazily BIG camera, slung around you, with all sorts of accessories. In fact, most of you already have one in your pocket!
Your phone camera! You might think… “Lousy camera lah!” Whatever. LOL. As long as still can make photos can already! It’s still better than no camera at all!
Besides, you never know what you might meet along the way. A LONG-LOST friend, some HOT hunk/babe, or ME!
Don’t go around finding your camera when you meet them.. So bring any camera out with you! You might find some interesting stuff too!
