Can’t believe my holidays are ending. 1 week is indeed too short! Stupid. Next module is 3DArt, which is . Another “trying to survive” module. Haha.

Tomorrow will be out early morning with Derrick to shoot some photos. Not telling you where yet! Counting tomorrow, will be the second time I’m there. First time was just to take a look. Hopefully I can get some nice shots for the morning, otherwise I will go back again. Quite a scary place actually. If light is good, I’ll go back for model shoot! Anyone wanna join me?

That’s all for now! Some of the rest not so nice la. Haha. I wonder where my fish and prawns are. Definitely not in the ocean anymore. HAHA.

When the Great Singapore Sale started, people started flooding Orchard Road. Now, the rain from the sky wants to flood Orchard Road too. Buy some branded goods back up. AND, those who saw the dragonboat at Orchard picture from facebook/twitter, it’s obviously fake la! Still got people ask. I think I can do better photoshop work. HAHA.

But rain is good! So cooling! It’s like 27C now? Woot! 32C sucks. It should rain more often. Maybe the coffee shops would be flooded too huh. So the uncles can’t watch World Cup. HAHA. Sorry guys, I’m not into soccer.

And some random thoughts, have any of you seen the “Saving Gaia” advertisement by Mediacorp? I think it’s a great advert. BUT, I think it doesn’t put the point across. Sorry, I won’t save the Earth because of your advert. I wonder if any of the campaigns actually work… Earth Hour? Hmm. Switch of your computer for 1 hour. Switch it on for the rest of the 8 764.81277 hours for the year. I really wonder what would make us change. Perhaps we should just throw all our coal and oil out into space, and see how.

A request for dark and emo.

My final assignment for my visual presentation module was to create a visual book design. And I decided to do on several quotes from photographers, which I try my best to apply in my own photography. Let me share some of them with you!

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” -Ansel Adams

I think this quote is truly true. Haha. I think sometimes we overlook this. When we have a camera, we all naturally think we are photographers. But personally, I think that just make us a cameraman. So we don’t always make photographs. I think photographs are made when you inject emotion and feel to them. You will know when you’ve made a photograph, be it a landscape, or a person. It’s different from taking one, you can feel it.

“Photography is all about light, composition and, most importantly, emotion.” – Larry Wilder

Quite similar as the first, but yet different. So, EMOTION is so important! People can tell a lively image from a dead image. Really! Powers of the human brain. So I try my best to “feel” the photo and make people “feel” it too.

Yep! That’s why I always say to just keep shooting! I still think my photographs are my first 10,000, although I probably have shot 20,000 photographs already. (Including the crappy and snapshot ones) Try to improve as your photo count rises. Try to make photographs. Try everything. Now with digital, you can shoot 50,000 photos without a worry of wasting film. (You only waste your hard disk space)

I truly agree with that. Don’t you? Sometimes, we see photographs, and we go, “WOO”. They are treasure. Except they are not marked X on the beach. Treasure your treasures.

I kinda miss the streets of Macau/Hong Kong. Cold weather, damp streets, and quiet alleys. It gives you a sense of peace and slow pace of life. But yet, you can still feel life and humanity as you walk around. I want to go back!

And as you venture further back into the dark alleys, you start to feel a bit creepy. You look around, you see all the rusty pipes, broken chains, and hear drops of dripping water. A little scary, but actually quite nice. Cloudy weather + dark alleys = Great photographs!
